What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that your nervous system controls the function of virtually every cell, tissue, organ, and system of your body (every nook and cranny). It’s also based on the fact that your body is a self-healing organism. It is designed to heal itself!
While your brain is protected by your skull, the spinal cord is more vulnerable, covered by 24 moving vertebrae. When these bones lose their normal motion and position due to any trauma (physical, emotional, chemical) they can irritate the nervous system. Depending on where that particular nerve is going this will disrupt that tissue or organ. We call this the vertebral subluxation.
Chiropractic is the science of locating these areas of spinal joint dysfunction, the art of correcting them and the philosophy of things natural.
Chiropractors are experts in the care of bones, nerves, muscles and connective tissues that makeup about 60% of your body. All of the joints in your body are part of the musculo-skeletal system and its optimal function is necessary for overall good health.
Why We’re Different
Going to a chiropractor today can, at times, be a daunting task. Not all chiropractors are alike. Although they go by the same name, chiropractors today differ greatly in technique and philosophy. The traditional philosophy that chiropractic was based on has never changed but for social acceptance some chiropractors have.
Many patients come to us because of some sort of pain syndrome. Like you would expect back pain, neck pain, numbness, you name it. But many also come because of a health condition and this is one way that we are different. We see patients with bowel problems, reproductive problems, respiratory problems upper GI problems, fatigue, etc. Though chiropractic is not a treatment for these conditions, their symptoms can be the result of interference of the nervous system.
We also see pregnant women and children. Dr. Ryan has his Webster Technique certification for the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association to do so. Most of the problems in adults actually started when they were younger and in some cases a lot younger. Checking children for subluxation is an important part of our practice. Parents that get their children checked are a step ahead of the rest. They notice less sickness, less drugs, less school missed and with that a happier child.
The correction of a subluxation is what is called the art of chiropractic. How a vertebra is adjusted is extremely important in the outcome of your health. We use a system of locating the patient’s subluxation and adjusting it in a precise way that yields amazing results. The system we use is called the Gonstead system.
We are proud to say that 91% of our new patients are referred to us by other satisfied patients that truly trust the doctor and his staff. This high referral percentage rates our office above 96% of clinics nationwide. So thanks to all our patients who make this a reality.
